Jocelyn Garcia is a medical assistant at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute where she works with nurses and doctors to help cancer patients feel more comfortable.
Garcia knows the importance of healthcare, having grown up in an area of Oaxaca, Mexico, with no nearby clinic or hospital. After she moved to Portland 10 years ago, and visited the OSHU hospital for an appointment, she knew one day she wanted to be helping people in the same place.
Whether it’s rooming people, drawing blood, or giving vaccines, Garica loves working with patients and making their visits as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Don’t let anyone stop you for what you want to become in life. Always push to be something better every day. And working in the medical field, it has helped me because I love helping people. I love helping them to make a change in their lives, too.
